Are you a kid who loves to write? Or maybe you have a child who loves to play with words, write stories, or experiment with poetry?
In our three-day young writers camp, we’ll explore fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, giving children the opportunity to learn some of the basics of each genre, try their hand at writing with prompts and exercises, and have lots of fun with games, puzzles, and art projects along the way.
Some of the activities include
- decorating the cover of your own book to write in during camp and take home with you.
- creating a pop-up book for your own short story.
- making your own refrigerator poetry magnets.
- drawing a story map book.
On the last day, children will have the opportunity to read a portion of what they’ve written during a public reading at Flavors Coffee House just two blocks from Frankfort Writers Center. Readings are voluntary, but everyone will be treated to cookies and hot cocoa, and parents are invited to attend.
